The Brave Hearts Wig Library is one of Brave Hearts on the Murray special projects. Some 10 years ago we successfully started a wig library at the Murray Valley Private Hospital in order to provide modern, fashionable wigs for hire at an extremely affordable price, to any woman who was diagnosed with cancer in our region. It undoubtedly proved that having access to an affordable wig during hair loss caused by cancer treatments, increased an individual’s self-esteem and coping mechanisms during this difficult time of their lives.Four years ago we trialled the housing of the wig library with a private consultant but it quickly proved that accessibility was important and it was much easier for people to access the library when coming for cancer treatments or visiting the oncologists. So we were thrilled to be able to restart it back at Murray Valley Hospital where it once again has proven its worth.

The library is financially supported by Brave Hearts on the Murray and run by volunteers. It is open from 10.00 am to 2.00 pm each Tuesday and Thursday or by appointment if these times are not suitable.

We have now found our permanent home within the Wellness Centre at the new Albury Wodonga Regional Cancer Centre. Our hours of opening remain unchanged – Tuesdays and Thursdays between 10.00 am and 2.00 pm.
